For the Love of Art at Galerie B-312

It is a kaleidoscope of art! For its yearly benefit show titled Pour l’art, Galerie B-312 is presenting 95 small-format artworks ranging from photography to drawing, collage to small sculptures. In support of the gallery 70 artists contributed their work to this show. Among my favourites is the small François Lacasse painting Petites Pulsions XXI in his signature rhythmic paint-flow style, the delicate digital photomontage Topographie de tarmac by Suzanne Joos, and the quirky knitted objects Cornet, Petit gâteau, and Gâteau de fête by Marie-France Tremblay.  I was also quite intrigued by Julie De Oliveira‘s piece Galegala, a small box frame containing an assembly of cicadas, some of them covered in gold foil, who are ringed around a pair of bugs which are either about to embark on a wrestling match or a square dance. Who’s to know?

The majority of the artworks in this benefit show hover around the $300 mark, some cluster around $750, so if you’re planning to expand on your art collection Pour l’art is an affordable way to treat yourself while at the same time support one of Montreal’s most established avant-garde galleries.
