A Serendipitous Dialogue

Launching tonight at the Visual Voice Art Gallery is the exhibition In the Grove it is Darkling by Robin Dennis and David Inglesfield.

VVG-RibenaDubmill

This exhibition of paired photographs extracts a moody poetry from rainy urban scenes, close-ups of the everyday, the banal, and the overlooked, without becoming sentimental. Inglesfield is known for his technique of shooting scenes through panes of glass which may be frosted with dew or streaked with reflections, lending his work a layered, painterly quality. Dennis’ work is more suggestive, capturing scenes which give you the impression as though a person has just left the frame, leaving trails of their presence behind. I find it amazing how well the images of each pair echo each other without actually repeating the subject matter.
Both photographers met on Flickr and there discovered their artistic fellowship (actually, they’ll be married later this year). In this spirit, the Visual Voice Art Gallery has created a Flickr group for Les Journées de la Culture and invites anyone taking photos during the Journées events to up-load them to the group – here’s the link: www.flickr.com/groups/866517@N20. On Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28 photos from this group will be screened in the gallery.
Happy flickring!
