Here comes the diva: Céline B. La Terreur is showing two of her works as part of the current show Il était une fois at Galerie Joyce Yahouda. La Terreur imbues herself with the mystique of the super-star by appropriating the aesthetics and drama of another. She transforms herself into an icon like Maria Callas with chameleon-like ease without surrendering her own ego – and with a name like “Céline B. La Terreur”, how would that even be possible?

About the artist:

Montreal-based artist Céline B. La Terreur holds a master’s degree in visual and new media arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal (2002).

An interdisciplinary artist, La Terreur’s practice varies between performance, painting, drawing and video. Her works borrow humoristic and satirical devices in order to confront the heterogeneous elements that she feels ultimately converge in defining the chaotic world.

La Terreur’s works have been shown in a number of exhibitions and special events in Montreal; notably her solo installation The Antechamber of Death at Articule in 2009, and three solo exhibitions at Joyce Yahouda Gallery between 2002 and 2009. She performed with her band Les Céline B. La Terreur on Musique Plus in 2004, as well as at the 4th Biennale of Performing Art of Rouyn-Noranda. The International Edgy Women Festival and the Montreal Underground Film Festival have, amongst many others, projected her various video works.
